CAPM® demonstrates the learner’s ability to work with project teams and distinguishes them in the job market. The CAPM classroom course is based on the Project Management Institute's, 'A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, (PMBOK® Guide) – Sixth Edition, Project Management Institute, Inc., 6th Edition', the same one used by PMP® Practitioners.

Exam information

The CAPM exam is not included with this course.

Exam format

The CAPM examination is comprised of 150 multiple-choice questions. Of the 150 questions, 15 are considered pretest questions. Pretest questions do not affect the score and are used in examinations as an effective and legitimate way to test the validity of future examination questions. All questions are placed throughout the examination randomly. Allotted examination time is three hours.

To maintain your CAPM, you must retake the exam every five years.

Course duration

This is an intensive three-day classroom course. There is some pre-course work that must be completed prior to attending the classroom, and evening work for the duration of the course.

All aspects of the course must be completed in order to receive your course completion certificate. This includes daily course attendance and full completion of the online pre-course and post course exam simulator.

Target audience

This qualification is for those delegates who are looking to start or add project management skills into their current role, or for those who want to manage larger projects and gain more responsibility.

Learning objectives

At the conclusion of the course, students will:

  • Have sufficient knowledge and understanding to work as an informed member of a project team undertaking a variety of project management roles
  • Be able to examine and analyse the inputs, tools and techniques of the processes and knowledge areas of the PMBOK® Guide
  • Fulfil the eligibility requirement for the CAPM examination to complete the required 23 contact hours of formal education
  • Be able to describe each process group and knowledge area of the PMBOK® Guide

Pre-requisites

The CAPM exam is not included with this course.

You have to apply to the Project Management Institute (PMI)® before you can sit the exam. There’s a strict protocol as they have to authenticate that the pre-requisite criteria has been met prior to exam attendance. In order to understand the PMI process we recommend you review the CAPM handbook on the PMI website.

Pre-requisites

To apply for the CAPM examination, you need to have either:

  • Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree or the global equivalent)
  • 23 hours of project management education completed by the time you sit for the exam

Pre-course

Important information regarding this course:

There is mandatory online pre-course work that must be undertaken prior to attending this course. It is expected that it will take approximately four to six hours to complete. You will be sent full instructions with a link to the online pre course within 48 hours of your confirmed booking.

In addition, whilst attending your course there will also be some evening work and a post course exam simulator.

All aspects of the course must be completed in order to receive your course completion certificate. This includes daily course attendance and full completion of the online pre-course and post course exam simulator.
